Alain was born in Reunion Island in 1983 and started surfing at age 10.  At age 14 his family moved to Tahiti, where he surfed every day after school honing his skills.  After high school, Alain decided to embark on his surfing career, and has been pro surfing ever since.  Career highlights include: European Junior Champion in 2002 and 2003, and a brilliant win at the infamous Teahupoo, WCT Trails in 2003.  His love for solid reef waves paid off at the end of the 2009 Season when he ended his WQS Tour campaign with a blazing result in Hawaii.  His 4th place finish in the Haleiwa event left him with a nail biting finish to his year.  Just a semi final finish at the last event of the year at Sunset Beach would secure a WCT slot.  The dream finish didn’t happen, but a renewed confidence may be all he needs for 2010.

Alain stacks up the frequent flyer miles all year long, free surfing and fine-tuning his equipment in between the gruelling schedule of WQS events.  He is in Australia for approximately 3 months at the beginning of each year.  During the European summer leg the talented young Tahitian can often be spotted at his favourite breaks in South West France surfing the beaches of Hossegor and Capbreton.  Then comes the next essential stop, the annual pilgrimage to Hawaii, where Alain spends over a month each winter.

Despite life on the road, his heart, in part, remains in Tahiti.  Alain loves his grandma, misses his mum’s good food and Tahiti’s perfect waves.  He hates getting losing, pollution and missing planes. He feels very fortunate to have such an incredible life style and packs his Polynesian smile wherever he goes.
